Thank you for your interest in LCT's "Tales from the Scrypt."
We are seeking 6-10 short plays (one act, approx. 10-15 minutes) for our upcoming short play festival. We look forward to reading your work!
Plays should have a "spooky" theme. What does that mean? We are open to interpretation and a range of ideas on what makes us feel unsettled - frightening, eerie, or just not quite right. Since we are presenting many acts in our festival, we request you avoid complicated or messy sets that would require clean-up between the acts (hint: no fake blood on the set).
Deadline to submit is May 18, 2026. We will be contacting all playwrights by the end of June to let them know if their play was selected for production. The spooky festival will be in October 2026.
We will be utilizing a blind submission process. The reading and selection committee will have no identifying information about the playwright during the selection period. DO NOT include any identifying information on or in the submitted file of your play text. Follow all directions completely. Submissions that do not follow these guidelines may be disqualified from selection.
